There is an active Conservative branch in each of the wards and thirteen out of the eighteen councillors that represent these wards are Conservative. Besides the ward branches we have a ladies committee which meets regularly and  also the  Aldridge Brownhills branch of the Conservative Party Forum which meets every month to discuss National issues. The conclusions of this meeting are then sent to Conservative headquarters in London who pass on constituent views to the relevant ministers.

Conservative Future is the movement for under 30s, including all members of the Conservative Party of this age. Conservative Future is the largest youth political organisation in the UK.The organisation is all about involving young people in politics and addressing the issues that matter to them. Conor Burns MP Bournemouth West

Streetly Branch are pleased to announce what promises to be an entertaining evening with Conor Burns MP who will be giving us a unique insight into the life and thoughts of Baroness Margaret Thatcher.

Once elected in 2010 he was appointed as Parliamentary Private Secretary (PPS) to Hugo Swire, the Minister of State at the Northern Ireland Office before which he briefly sat on the Education select committee. By 2012, Conor was then promoted to be PPS to the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland Owen Paterson.

He became a close aide to Margaret Thatcher in the later years of her life and spoke in the House of Commons debate on 10 April 2013 following her death.

The event is not to be missed and will take place at Streetly Sports and Community Centre,Foley Road East on Saturday 27th September at 7.30pm.Tickets are £10 inclusive of a Fish and Chip Supper with mushy peas and bread and butter.

                              ALDRIDGE GREAT WAR PROJECT

Monday 4th August  marks the 100th anniverary of the start of the 1st World War.This important historic and tragic event is being marked throughout the country by commemorations.In Aldridge the Anniversary is being remembered by two special meetings which are being held at Aldridge Methodist Church, Anchor Road.At these meetings  Aldridge Great War project will be launched.The Great War project  aims to remember all who served in the War.At the two meetings being held at 2.30pm and 7.30pm how this is going to be achieved will be discussed.Those attending either of the meetings will have thew opportunity hear ‘Voices from the Past’ and view ‘Faces from the Past’. Music from the War will be played and  free tuition is available to enable everyone to discover their family’s own Great War ancestry.

Representatives from Aldridge School, Aldridge Library, Aldridge Local History Society and Aldridge Air Cadets will speak on why they have chosen to be part of the project.

The Aldridge Great War Project will be organising during the year a village Great War Trail, put on displays in the Library and other endeavours to highlight the Great War and Aldridge’s connection with it.

Tickets for the Launch are free and can be obtained from Aldridge Library, Rookery Lane or Lynda’s Lazy Hill, numbers are limited, so please collect your ticket as soon as possible.


The Aldridge-Brownhills Conservative Association is pleased to invite Conservative members and supporters on a tour of the Palace of Westminster which will take place on Tuesday 16th September. The air-conditioned forty-nine seat coach will depart Aldridge at 08.30am and pick up any attendees from Streetly at 08.45am before arriving in London at around 12.00 noon. Those attending will enjoy a detailed guided tour around the Houses of Parliament which will last approximately 90 minutes and have the chance to meet Sir Richard Shepherd at the venue. The tour will be followed by a brief respite in Parliament’s in-house tea/coffee bar as well as an opportunity to peruse the offerings of the Commons Gift Shop. The party will then be transported by coach at around 3.00pm to The Carlton Club (optional) where those in attendance will enjoy a superb Afternoon Tea hosted in the historic Disraeli Room suite. Alternatively, you are more than welcome to spend free time exploring London in the afternoon if you would rather once the Tour of Westminster has finished. The party will then meet up and the coach will depart London at 5.00pm with an expected arrival time in Aldridge of approximately 7.30pm.

Cost is £36 for the Tour of Westminster plus an optional cost of £17 for Afternoon Tea in the exquisite deep blue Disraeli Room at The Carlton Club.

Car parking is available at both collection/drop-off points in Aldridge & Streetly.
